What is a chiminea?
A chiminea is a clay outdoor fireplace of Mexican origin, shaped like a wide-bellied vase with a vertical chimney. The fire burns protected inside, smoke is directed upward, and the heat builds fast — perfect for your patio, backyard or campfire evenings. Sparkle Stone chimineas are authentic, handcrafted from 100% natural clay.
How do I order and how long does delivery take?
US stock is currently sold out — prices are shown for reference; write to office@mysparklestone.com and we will tell you when it is back. When in stock, you order directly on the site and pay online at checkout. Every chiminea is handcrafted, so no two are exactly alike.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payment is made online by card, processed securely through Stripe. Apple Pay and Google Pay also appear at checkout if your device supports them.
Can I return the product? Is there a warranty?
Yes — you have 14 calendar days to return the product in its original packaging. We offer a 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects. Full details are in our Return & Warranty Policy.
How do I cure a clay chiminea (first firing)?
Before regular use, cure the clay: add a layer of sand about 4 in (10 cm) deep in the base, then build 3-4 small, progressively larger fires, letting the chiminea cool completely between them. Is a chiminea safe on a wooden deck?
Yes, with a safety zone: place the chiminea on concrete slabs, stone paving or brick (a patio hearth), with no roof or branches above the chimney. The wide bowl keeps sparks inside and the protective lid helps control the burn.
What is a chiminea used for?
For a contained wood fire outdoors: warmth and atmosphere on a patio, in a garden or in a backyard, plus simple cooking over the embers, on skewers or in foil.
Do chimineas give off heat?
Yes. The warmth comes out through the wide front opening, and the thick clay walls take in the heat and give it back gradually and evenly, because fired clay holds heat longer. Clay warms more slowly than cast iron, but the heat is steadier.
How much does your chiminea weigh, and does it need a stand?
Between 38 and 44 lbs (17.2–19.9 kg), since each one is handmade. It comes with its own metal tripod stand: set the stand where you want it and place the chiminea on top. Together they stand 34 in (87 cm) tall.
